30 years of promoting the profession

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Hampshire — formed in 1980 and incorporated in the state of New Hampshire as a nonprofit, voluntary and self-governing organization – celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2010.Five firms originally established the Consulting Engineers of New Hampshire organization in 1980. In 2002, we changed our name to the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Hampshire, or ACEC-NH.ACEC-NH aims to promote the business and professional interests of our 45 member firms and enhance the practice of consulting engineering in New Hampshire. Each of our members has at least one office in the state. Together, they employ over 800 professionals.ACEC-NH has achieved much to be proud of in our 30-year history. The organization is very much involved in the ongoing discussions and advocacy surrounding our industry’s transportation and environmental issues, which includes stimulus funding. We are grateful to all those involved with ACEC-NH and who have worked hard over the past 30 years to successfully position our organization as “the voice of engineering in New Hampshire.”Our association’s mission is to provide value to our member firms, and we are planning several events during 2010 to provide networking and educational opportunities. On April 13, ACEC-NH will host our 11th annual Technical Transfer Conference with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. We are planning an Upper Valley Economic Development Forum in May, and 14 projects and 10 of our member firms will be honored in June at our second annual Engineering Excellence Awards banquet.“Attending events on behalf of our companies has provided us the opportunity to network and develop relationships with corporate leaders, including engineers, environmental scientists and business development professionals. In so doing, we continually forge new business and personal relationships that have permitted us to partner in delivering quality products to our clients,” said ACEC-NH President-elect Michael Penney, P.E.Throughout 2010, ACEC-NH will continue to highlight our achievements of the past three decades. The organization will continue to protect and advance our member firms’ interests. We have successfully accomplished this through ACEC-NH’s legislative and regulatory achievements and our council’s goal of providing membership value.Mark B.
