3 seriously injured in snowmobile accident
NEW IPSWICH – Three juveniles were seriously injured after a snowmobile they were riding Friday night collided with a truck.
A 15-year-old and two other juveniles were riding a Polaris snowmobile without a headlight on Turnpike Road around 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, when a truck with a plow turned left into a Citgo gas station and the snowmobile collided with the plow blade, according to police.
None of the juveniles were wearing a helmet or other safety equipment.
They were thrown about 50 feet from the snowmobile, which then hit a gas pump and then a parked car, police said.
Two of the juveniles suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Monadnock Community Hospital. The third juvenile suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Massachusetts hospital, police said.
Police are still investigating the accident.
