A homeless man was arrested Monday after allegedly stealing a GPS device from a car, police said.
Michael Woodside, 40, faces a felony theft charge. He was held overnight after his arrest, and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning. Detective Lt. George McCarthy said a witness saw a man rummaging in the car, parked on Main Street, and passed the description along to police. Before the description was broadcast, however, a detective working at a construction detail on Temple Street saw Woodside pedal past on his bicycle. After hearing the description, the detective alerted officers on patrol that Woodside fit it.
Woodside had the GPS on him when police caught up with him, McCarthy said.
