Man being held on ID theft charge
A 22-year-old man who was arrested for identity fraud Tuesday is being held by federal immigration officials after he was identified as being in the United States illegally, police said Wednesday. Juan Antonio Arias Guevara, who has a local address of 2 Lions Ave., Apt. 28, was arrested without incident around noontime Tuesday at Heiland Electronics on Industrial Drive, where police said he was working under a different name and Social Security number. After a brief investigation, police said, officers discovered Guevara was in the country illegally, a charge being handled by Immigration Customs Enforcement officials. Police said Guevara had been hired at Heiland, an electronics parts and equipment wholesaler, through a temp agency, and company officials were apparently unaware he was in the country illegally and was allegedly working under a stolen identity. Guevara was arraigned on the charges Wednesday in Nashua District Court, and then he was turned over to the custody of ICE officials, police said.
