North Branch project honored by ABC … and more

Kate Luczko, who stepped down earlier this year as president and CEO of the organization Stay Work Play, has joined Harvey Construction Corp., Bedford, as director of marketing and business development. Rob Prunier, executive vice president at Harvey, said Luczko ‘brings a deep network of connections with outstanding communication and organizational skills – a combination that enhances our visibility to showcase what we do best in the region.’

Members of the Claremont community, staff, friends and business associates gathered Oct. 22 to celebrate the opening of the new 65,000-square-foot headquarters of North Country Smokehouse in Claremont.

The new facility, more than four times the size of the old facility, features post and beam construction with significant glass and open space.

The facility will allow significantly higher and more efficient production. As a result, the smokehouse plans to hire about 15 additional team members in the coming months.

The new location is in the Syd Clark Industrial Park. The construction project is believed to be the largest privately funded construction project in the city’s history.

 

North Branch Construction, Concord, was one of the big winners at the Oct. 26 the Associated Builders and Contractors NH/VT Chapter Annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony at Manchester Country Club in Bedford.

The firm received an Excellence in Construction Award for the Phase I and Phase II renovations of the Ohrstrom Library on the campus of St. Paul’s School in the “Institutional/Public $2-5M” category.

St. Paul’s School’s Ben Jorgensen, Paul Lachance, and Joe Jackson, along with Project Architect Bruce Wood of KMW Architects, joined North Branch Construction’s Project Manager Jim Schwartzkopf and Phase II Project Superintendent Tom Knott on stage as Knott accepted the award.

Also at the event was Multi-Weld Services Inc., a Contoocook-based metal fabricator that worked on the Ohrstrom Library project.

 

Construction has begun on the new and expanded offices of The Lens Doctors at 605 Lafayette Rd., in Portsmouth.  Designed by McHenry Architecture, the project is a two-story, 12,600-square-foot building that will house the expanded Lens Doctors’ practice on the first floor with first-class tenant space on the second floor.

The design incorporates the use of high quality exterior and interior materials and a building form that sets it apart from the typical suburban context that the site occupies.

Ricci Construction is the construction manager and JSN Engineers is providing structural engineering design,

 

Cobb Hill Construction, Concord, has hired Matthew Angell  of Hopkinton as an estimator’s assistant.

 

Carl Dubberly of Artistic Tile, Nashua, has earned certification from the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation, an educational institution that offers local, regional and national training programs for consumers, installers, construction professionals, architects, designers, building inspectors and sales associates interested in the sale and installation of ceramic tile.

 

Roedel Companies, Wilton, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Hilton Garden Inn in Canton, Mass. The ceremony was organized by Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, which is leasing the land to Roedel to develop the hotel.

This is the second property that Roedel Companies has broken ground on in Massachusetts in the last six months. In July, the New Hampshire-based hotelier broke ground on a Homewood Suites by Hilton at Riverbridge in Berlin. The two properties bring the number of hotels Roedel Companies owns, operates or manages to 13 throughout the Northeast.

Site work has started and construction will begin in the spring. ROK Builders, an affiliate of Roedel Companies, is managing the construction of the hotel, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019.

 

Joshua Broder, president and CEO of information technology professional services and network construction company Tilson, was recently named to Engineering News-Record’s inaugural list of America’s “Top 20 Under 40” professionals in commercial engineering and construction.  

Tilson, based in Portland, Maine, has offices across the U.S., including one in Manchester, NH.
