2 from Mass. accused of fleeing crash scene

NASHUA - Nashua police arrested two Massachusetts residents Saturday morning after they allegedly fled the scene of an accident. Officers responded to the area of 172 Kinsley St. just before 5 a.m. Saturday, for a reported motor vehicle accident with injury. There, witnesses gave police a description of a car that had allegedly fled the scene, police said. A little more than an hour later, Eugenio Pinto, 43, of 58 Fowle St. in Woburn, and Dora Kalogeropoulos, 37, of the same address, were located a short distance from the scene of the accident and arrested, police said. Police determined Pinto had been driving at the time of the crash and charged him with conduct after an accident, a felony, false report of an accident, a misdemeanor and operating without a valid license, a violation, police said. Kalogeropoulos was charged with criminal liability to conduct after an accident, a felony, and false report of an accident, police said. Both Pinto and Kalogeropoulos allegedly provided false information to the investigating officers, police said. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said. Pinto was released on $3,000 cash or surety. Kalogeropoulos was released on $2,500 cash or surety bail. The two have pending arraignments at Nashua District Court, police said. The Class B felonies are punishable by up to seven years in prison plus fines and the misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in prison plus fines, police said. Edit ModuleShow Tags
