Health info exchange forum set

The goal of the second New Hampshire Connects for Health Conference is to bring together health-care providers, lawmakers, business and academic leaders and technology providers in an effort to plan for a statewide health information exchange system. “We want a system that’s safe for more patients and that delivers better care,” said Amy Schwartz, senior policy analyst for the New Hampshire Institute for Health Policy and Practice at the University of New Hampshire. Schwartz also is project director for a $350,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded to Gov. John Lynch’s Citizen’s Health Initiative to help create a statewide medical record system. She said that the focus of the conference will be on privacy and security, which remain the major roadblocks toward implementing a statewide system. The conference will be held June 20 at the Center of New Hampshire Radisson Hotel in Manchester. For more information, visit http://www.nhhic.org/conference.html. - NHBR STAFF
