More info needed on relocation

Historic District Commission needs more information before it can decide whether to OK a request to relocate the Mont Vernon General Store to a new building proposed for the corner of Route 13 and Francestown Turnpike. The commission held a hearing last week but said they needed more information on lighting, signage, color and driveway construction. Nember Linda Foster suggested the commission hold a joint session with the Planning Board at the end of August. The applicant, store co-owner Julie Whitcomb, and her architect, Rolf Biggers of Amherst, were allowed 15 minutes to make a presentation. Whitcomb said there was a need for a restaurant in the village and the store's present location does not allow for expansion. Other than the applicant, none of the dozen people present spoke in favor of the plan. Edit ModuleShow Tags
