The state Department of Environmental Services has been awarded a supplemental $150,000 federal brownfields grant aimed at helping to revitalize former industrial and commercial sites. The supplemental grant to DES is one of nine handed out by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency yesterday as part of its effort to help return abandoned, blighted or lightly contaminated properties to productive use. Earlier this year, EPA targeted more than $2 million in brownfields grants to 10 New Hampshire communities. Since 1994, New Hampshire has received nearly $16 million in EPA brownfields grants. - JEFF FEINGOLD Edit ModuleShow Tags
