Future construction deals rise in June

The total value of future construction contracts reported in New Hampshire for June 2011 increased to $221.3 million, up 9 percent from the $203.6 million reported a year earlier.According to statistics from the industry information service McGraw-Hill Construction, a 61 percent increase in nonbuilding construction projects, including roads and bridges, rose from June 2010's $19.1 million to $30.8 million in June 2011.The largest drop was recorded for future residential projects, from $86.8 million in June 2010 to $58.8 million in June 2011, a 32 percent decrease. Nonresidential future contracts increased to $131.6 million in June 2011 from the previous year's $97.6 million, a 35 percent increase.Recorded through June 2011, the total value of all future construction contracts in New Hampshire is $853.4 million, a 1 percent decrease from 2010's $861.3 million. -- NATALIE GLISSON/NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSINESS REVIEW
