About 114,000 square feet of office space at 40 Continental Blvd. in Merrimack is vacant after Fidelity Investments recently ended its lease at the building, consolidating its local operations at its campus at 2 Contra Way.Fidelity said in a statement that it leased the space in 2005 to address long- and short-term operational needs, including construction of new facilities at other company-owned sites. The move back to its campus off Exit 10 of the F.E. Everett Turnpike affected a relatively small number of workers, spokeswoman Jennifer Engel said. The company said in 2005 that the two-story facility on Continental Boulevard would accommodate about 400 employees.Thomas Farrelly, of Cushman & Wakefield, is heading a five-person team charged with marketing the facility, which recently underwent $8 million in renovations to improve its interior and exterior operating systems. There is already interest in the building from Boston-area companies with large space needs, Farrelly said. The building is divisible for tenants needing only 5,500-square-foot units, he said.
