UNH Cooperative Extension Offers Sales Forecast Course for Agricultural Businesses
Understand your customers and grow your business with this step-by-step approach

As markets and customers change, it is important for agricultural business owners to understand who purchases their products and why. Do the same facts hold if they expand and grow their business? UNH Cooperative Extension is offering a new advanced marketing course, “A Step-by-step Approach to Creating a Product Sales Forecast for Your Agricultural Business,” designed to keep agricultural business owners competitive in a crowded marketplace. The course takes place each Wednesday in January, beginning on Jan. 10, 2018.

In this advanced short course, business owners will learn how to evaluate market demand, segment the market and understand their customers. Course participants will also learn how to plan for marketing risks and crop insurance; track and forecast sales; evaluate marketing costs and understand business rules and regulations.

“As an agricultural business entrepreneur, exploring potential markets and understanding your current one is a must in this changing and competitive world. Careful and constant market planning should be part of your production strategy, and this course will help business owners develop those plans,” says Nada Haddad, a UNH Cooperative Extension food and agriculture field specialist.

The course’s four sessions will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 10, Jan. 17, Jan. 24 and Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Granite State College in Concord. Guest speakers include livestock producers Liz and Jeff Conrad of Riverslea Farm in Epping; vegetable grower and value-added producer John Moulton of Moulton Farm in Meredith and UNH Cooperative Extension specialists and agricultural service providers. The course is co-sponsored by the University of New Hampshire and the USDA Risk Management Agency.

Class size is limited and participants are encouraged to register early at The course is $65 per person or $115 for two people from the same farm. Registration includes lunch.
