The Milford Great Pumpkin Festival celebrates its 24th year on October 11-13 in downtown Milford. The festival opens at 5 p.m. on Friday and gets into full swing with the music on the Oval, the Chili Roundup and Beer, Wine n' Spirits Tasting on the Community House Lawn from 5:30-8:30. At 6:30, our own elusive masked man known as The Pumpkin Runner winds his way through the Oval to officially kick off the festival with the 'Lighting' of the Milford Town Hall, followed by presentation of Milford's Citizen of the Year Award. Fireworks cap off the evening at 8:45 p.m., courtesy of Atlas Pyrotechnics.
The best of the Southern New Hampshire Music Scene will be on two stages all weekend featuring diverse musical styles. Rock n roll from local favorites Russell Hill, the Transistors, and the Slakas, jazz and funk from The Kid Jazz Band and B3, and Studio Two. Country and acoustic from Rob Oxford, Rich & Bobby, Amy Conley and traditional music from the New Englanders. Whatever your musical taste, you are sure to find it at the Milford Pumpkin Festival!
Come back to the Amato Center on Saturday, October 8 at 8 p.m. to cheer on the brave souls performing in the 7th Annual Pumpkin Festival Talent Show! Contestants from all over New Hampshire will sing, dance, perform acrobatics and display other unique talents for a chance to win $500 and bragging rights. Sponsored by Mount Washington College. Tickets on sale now at www.milfordpumpkinfestival.org
As dark falls on the festival, who knows what may crawl out of the woods? Those who dare can talk a walk along the Haunted Trail from 6-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. And those who are feeling a little UNDEAD may want to don their best in zombie attire for the first ever ZOMBIE WALK on Saturday night from 6-8 p.m.
There are several returning favorites such as the Great Pumpkin Weigh In, the Pumpkin Catapult, scarecrow making and face painting all on the Oval and the Community House Lawn. Great food and wonderful arts & crafts are found on Middle Street and in the Town Hall Auditorium.
