Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the only woman sitting on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, hosted the Afghan robotics team in her Washington D.C. Senate office. Shaheen was joined by Senator Maggie Hassan. The two met with team members Lida Azizi, Somayeh Faruqi, Rodaba Noori, Fatemah Qaderyan, Kawsar Roshan, team sponsor Roya Mahboob, and their coach Alireza Mahraban, as well as Lael Mohib, wife of Afghanistan’s Ambassador to the United States Hamdullah Mohib. Shaheen presented the team with Congressional Record statements that honor their achievements and their determination to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge in Washington, D.C. When the all-girls robotics team members were denied U.S. visas to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge in Washington, D.C., Shaheen’s office contacted the U.S. Embassy in Kabul on their behalf.
The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has issued its first approval of an offshore wind Site Assessment Plan to Bay State Wind, a utility-scale offshore wind project in Massachusetts located 15 nautical miles south of Martha’s Vineyard in the Atlantic Ocean. The project is a joint venture between DONG Energy, which has built 22 commercial-scale offshore wind projects around the world, and New England transmission builder Eversource.

Mercury Systems, Inc., a commercial provider of secure sensor and mission processing subsystems based in Andover, Mass. with a location in Hudson, NH, has received a $10.5 million follow-on order from a leading defense prime contractor for high-performance microwave transceivers for precision guided munitions. The order was booked in the company’s fiscal 2017 fourth quarter and is expected to be shipped over the next several quarters.
Greenland, NH-based retailer Cole Haan has selected Aptos, Inc.’s cloud-based Enterprise Order Management solution to enhance its omni-channel retail operations. The Aptos Enterprise Order Management will support Cole Haan’s direct-to-consumer initiatives with omni-channel capabilities to integrate its digital and physical retail channels and support one complete view of customers, inventory, orders and more. Cole Haan also leverages the Aptos Singular Commerce platform, including Aptos Store for point of sale and mobile point of sale, Aptos Customer Relationship Management and Aptos Audit and Operations Management.
