Groundbreaking for new women’s prison, new Marine Patrol HQ … and more

Gov. Maggie Hassan on Monday was joined by legislators and officials from the Department of Corrections and the Department of Administrative Services to break ground on a new state women’s prison.

The $38 million project, which is being built behind the men’s prison in Concord, was designed by SMRT Architects and Engineers. Gilbane Construction will build it.

 

Samyn-D’Elia Architects, Ashland, has been selected by the state of New Hampshire to provide architectural and engineering services for the new Gilford Marine Patrol headquarters in Gilford.

The new facility will include office space, a secure booking area and related police services facilities, classrooms for boating education, a training room, dock storage and maintenance for patrol vessels, paved parking and circulation, and equipment storage areas.

 

MorrisSwitzer~Environments for Health has been selected to design Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Palliative and Hospice Care Center. Estimated at 21,000 square feet, the new facility will have 12 inpatient beds, space for families, staff, educators and researchers.

Construction is expected to begin in September 2015. MorrisSwitzer will be partnering with Tom Mullinax, president of Hospice Design Resource.

 

Jewett Construction Company, Raymond, has completed the capping off of the interior firing range enclosure at the Granite State Indoor Range and Gun Shop in Hudson. Designed by Port One Architects and scheduled for completion in the fall, the new 12,960-square-foot facility contains two ranges with a total of 15 shooting stalls, gun shop, offices and members’ area.

 

1 Riverway East, Milford, has been sold to Riverway East Associates LLC by Herbert and Cheryl Hardman. Lisa Morrison and Mark Prolman of Prolman Realty, Nashua, represented the sellers. Price of the two-acre property with a 19,750-square-foot industrial/office building was $525,000.

 

The public will be able to get its first look at all four floor plans of luxury apartments at an Aug. 28 open house for Aria at Portwalk Place. Doors will be open from 4 to 6 p.m.

More than one-third of the apartments have been selected by future residents during the initial weeks of the pre-leasing period, said officials.

 

The engineering firm of Wright-Pierce has been named to the 2014 Circle of Excellence by the management consulting firm PSMJ Resources Inc. An indicator of sustainable business practices, Wright-Pierce has been a member of the Circle of Excellence since 2006.
