LEED Silver for new National Guard facility, natural gas coming to Windham, Pelham … and more

Gracie Cilley, vice president, commercial loan officer for Meredith Village Savings Bank has been elected chair of the board of directors of the Belknap Economic Development Council, which is working on revitalization of the Colonial Theatre in downtown Laconia. Cilley has served on the Belknap EDC Board since 2015.

The NH Preservation Alliance will be holding its biennial conference, Preserving Community Character: Critical Issues and Opportunities, from 9 a.m.– 4 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Concord City Auditorium.

Participants will be able to Hear about critical issues and opportunities in the field of historic preservation, and learn from recognized experts and community leaders about the many facets of preservation. Sessions will focus on strategies for saving and repurposing community landmarks, effective planning, working with a project team, best practices in communications and successful fundraising, among others.

Max Page, professor of architecture and history and director of historic preservation initiatives at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will give the keynote address.

Maggie Kerkhoff has joined the management team of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty, Londonderry. Kerkhoff, who has more than 12 years of experience in the real estate industry, previously was managing broker for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Bedford. In addition, Rachel Cohen and Sara Lucas have joined the firms Bedford office.

 

Liberty Utilities has received regulatory approval to provide the towns of Windham and Pelham with natural gas distribution service. The company originally filed in 2015 for rights to serve the two towns with the NH Public Utilities Commission.

The two towns have been the only ones in their without natural gas service.

According to John Shore, spokesman for Liberty Utilities, construction of distribution pipelines is expected to begin in late summer. The company plans to start serving commercial and industrial customers, along with adjacent residential neighborhoods, during the initial phase of the project, then branch out to residential neighborhoods over a four-to-five-year period.

 

CBS Medical Billing & Consulting has leased 4,081 square feet of space in the Malthouse Exchange Plaza, 95 Brewery Lane, Portsmouth. Catie Medeiros of The Kane Company represented CBS in the transaction. Andy Fleisher of NAI Norwood Group represented the landlord.

 

The Regional Training Institute and Barracks Facility for the NH Army National Guard has received LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for both of its buildings on its new campus in Pembroke. Eckman Construction recently completed the $28 million, 104,000-square-foot project.

Among the facility’s sustainable features are a rainwater harvesting system that saves roughly 50 percent of water consumption, occupancy sensors that help manage electricity usage levels, permeable pavement that reduces runoff and contributes to sustainable site conditions and rooftop solar panels that power a domestic hot water system.

Oak Point Associates of Portsmouth served as the architect for the project. Resilient Buildings Group of Concord was the sustainability consultant.

 

Kathy Scannell of Portsmouth has joined DeStefano Architects, Portsmouth, as business manager. She previously worked at a Methuen, Mass.-based IT support company.

 

Milestone Engineering & Construction Inc., Concord, has completed construction of a new 13,800-square-foot office and warehouse at 6 Whitney Drive, Concord, for Lakes Region Tent and Event. Architect for the project was the H.L. Turner Group of Concord.

 

Craig Liffner has been promoted to director of operations at Sullivan Construction, Bedford. He previously was the firm’s chief estimator.

 

Robert J. Saunders has joined Hoyle, Tanner & Associates as a senior environmental engineer and project manager, working out of the firm’s Manchester headquarters.

 

The Franconia Village Store, owned for over 40 years by the Heath family, has been sold to Suhit “Bob” Patel and his partners. Patel recently purchased the Bethlehem Village Store. Mary Doherty and Andy Smith of Peabody and Smith Realty represented Steve Heath and assisted the buyers in the transaction.

 

Manchester-based Merrimack Mortgage recently raised $8,825 for the Manchester VA Medical Center’s VASH program for homeless veterans through its third annual Passion Prom.

 

Kathy Ahlin and Carol Gartland have announced the opening of their real estate brokerage, EXIT Portside Realty, Portsmouth.
